Introduction

At Raise View House we aim to provide comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation and to endeavor to cater for all the needs of our guests. We always do our best to exceed the expectations of all our visitors.
Please let us know if you have any particular requirements that we can help with.
Raise View House is a traditional Lakeland stone semi detached house built in the late 1900’s. The accommodation is over two floors.

The following information is provided to help deciding if Raise View House is suitable for your needs.

Pre-Arrival

Information available via internet, phone or a printed brochure by post(standard print size)
• Raise View House has its own car park – entrance to the house at lower level and is within waking distance to Grasmere village centre. Approximately 6 minutes walk to the village centre.
• Public transport is available from directly opposite to Windermere station and in front of the house to Keswick.
• Bus timetables available for guests.
• Taxis can be pre ordered for guests.
• The nearest Shop mobility scheme is in Kendal (20 miles away)

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• Raise View House has a gravel stone car park with sufficient spaces for all rooms. Cars have to be double parked as the car parking is restricted.
• The house is signed Raise View House and the phone number is on the sign.
• There are no steps or barriers from the car park to the entrance of the house.
• The car park has security lighting.
• We can assist guests with luggage

Main Entrance & Hallway

• Our front door Guest entrance is onto Pye Lane.
• One step approx 10cm leads to the hallway.
• The front door is always locked and a doorbell is available. Guests have their own front door key.
• The front door width is approx 87cm.
• The hallway area (W120cm x L500cm) leads to the main staircase. The dining room is to the left and the guest lounge is to the right as you enter.

Public Areas- General (Internal)

• As previously described the house is over two floors. Access is from Pye Lane with a 10cm step. The front door width is 87cm. There are no lifts or stair lifts in the building. The ground floor gives access into the guest lounge and dining room.
• All areas are well lit with maintained lighting in the hallway and on the top floor.
• All areas have professionally fitted carpets.
• The guest lounge has comfortable seating.
• Furniture is arranged in the public rooms to allow free access around the rooms.
• Door closures are fitted on all doors.
• Free password protected wi-fi in all rooms.
• Raise View House is licensed and has an honesty bar for our guests.
• The guest lounge has a coal fire.

Dining Room

• Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor.
• Chairs and tables are moved to suit the room and combinations of guest staying. There are sufficient tables so each guest will have their own table. All chairs are professionally upholstered.
• A printed breakfast menu is available.
• Special diets and allergies are catered for with prior arrangement. Vegetarian breakfast is always available
• We normally play background music in the dining room.

Public Areas WC

• None. All bedrooms are en- suite.

Guest Garden

• A small guest’s patio area and garden is situated at the rear of the car park. A selection of garden chairs and tables are always available. The patio area is flagged with Lakeland stone and the border is in filled with Lakeland chippings. There are raised edging stones leading onto the small lawn.

Restaurants

• We are happy to advice on local restaurants to suit all tastes and requirements. Our ‘Village Eating Guide’ can be found in the guest’s information folder in each room. We will always make bookings for guests if required.

Laundry

• We cannot offer laundry facilities but are happy to help with drying wet clothing and to provide an iron if required. The nearest launderettes are Ambleside 5 miles and Keswick and Windermere both 12miles.

Leisure Facilities

• We do not have are own leisure facilities but are happy to advise on facilities available in the area.

Bedrooms

• We have a total of seven bedrooms, four on the first floor and three on the second floor. All rooms have central heating radiators and are fitted with temperature control valves.
• All rooms are professionally carpeted.
• Complimentary Tea/Coffee making facilities are provided in each room.
• Hairdryers are provided in each room.

First Floor Bedrooms

• There are eleven stairs leading to a small landing. A further four stairs to another landing where the first floor bedrooms are located.
• The stairs are 80cm wide and 18cm deep there is a banister to the right hand side.
• Doors widths are 76cm
• Flat screen freeview televisions with remote control and teletext are provided in all rooms.
• Free password protected wi-fi is available in all rooms.

Jackdaw Bedroom

• Standard size double bed.(No end)
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• Shower cubicle with hinged screen and wash basin located in the room.
• Separate WC in the room.


Stone Arthur Bedroom

• Standard size French wrought iron feature double bed.
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with sliding screen.
• Heated towel rail in en-suite
• One upright chair provided.

Wordsworth Bedroom

• King size double bed.(No end)
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite bathroom has a bath with a shower over the bath, WC, basin. The bath has a shower screen.
• One tub chair and one upright chair provided.
• Heated towel rail in en-suite

Easedale Bedroom

• Two single beds approximately 15cm apart.(No ends)
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Beds are approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with hinged screen.
• Radiator in en-suite
• One upright chair provided.

Second Floor Bedrooms

• There are ten stairs leading to a small landing. A further five stairs to another landing where the second floor bedrooms are located.
• The stairs are 80cm wide and 18cm deep there is a banister to the right hand side.
• Doors widths are 76cm
• Flat screen freeview televisions with remote control and teletext are provided in all rooms.
• Free password protected wi-fi is available in all rooms.

Helm Crag Bedroom

• King size feature wrought iron double bed.
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with sliding screen.
• One tub chair provided.
• Heated towel rail in en-suite

Rothay Bedroom

• King size double bed. (No end)
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• Two bedside tables are provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with hinged screen.
• One upright chair provided.

Gingerbread Bedroom

• One single bed.(No end)
• At least 60cm access between bed and furniture.
• Furniture can be moved on request.
• Bed is approximately 60cm in height.
• One bedside table is provided.
• Door widths are 76cm
• The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with hinged screen.
• One chair is provided.

Additional Information

• Mobile phone service is generally available throughout the house but this does vary depending on network coverage.
• We operate a strict non smoking policy throughout all parts of the house and garden.
• A fire alarm is fitted with call points, smoke and heat detectors. A bell sounds if evacuation is needed.
• We have a limited amount of space in our main fridge for medications and other special need on request(Not available 24 hours)
